About Ed Chignell
Ed is the CEO and co-founder of Treescape Limited.
He started the business in 1980 with his best friend after leaving high school. It was meant to be a one year fill in project and ended up becoming a lifelong career. He was one of the key instigators in setting up the New Zealand Arboriculture Association in the late 80s and the first arboriculture training course in New Zealand.
He brought Dr Alex Shigo to NZ in the late 80's and early 90's to carry out tree biology work shops and seminars around NZ to promote modern arboriculture as we know it today.
Treescape has become one of the largest tree care businesses in Australasia, employing over 500 personnel between New Zealand and Australia.
- Trained in arboriculture at Merristwood College, Surrey England.
- Lifetime member of the New Zealand Arboriculture Association.
- Awarded the Ron Flook award for 'High Standards of Practice in Arboriculture'.
Ed Chignell has over 35 years of experience in arboriculture, contracting, and the associated challenges that come with running a large organisation in a very high-risk industry and in two countries.
