About Oli Crook
Oli is a Health and Safety Assessments Inspector in Operations and Support, Canterbury/West Coast region. Oli conducts work place assessments within Forestry and Arboriculture, Agriculture, Construction and Manufacturing as part of Worksafe New Zealand’s National Programmes of Work.
Oli has experience of working in a number of different industries during his working career and prior to working as an Inspector has for the last 16 years been involved within the Horticulture sector.
He is originally from the UK where he owned and operated his own landscape design, construction and maintenance business before immigrating to New Zealand around 9 years ago. Oli has worked in the landscaping and arboriculture contracting sectors in the Marlborough and Canterbury regions and understands the varied challenges facing this specialised and varied industry. A utility arborist, Oli has a working knowledge of arboriculture around overhead power lines and the associated challenges involved in the role and that of the line mechanic.
Oli has close associations with the arboriculture industry and spends time engaging with duty holders in this sector within the Canterbury and West Coast regions. He has a working experience of being a business owner, manager, supervisor, contractor and worker and now as the regulator, and the challenges that all these roles present.
