Management of cyclical vegetation control -power networks– Auckland region

Role Overview. 
The primary purpose of this role is to manage the timely and cyclical pruning of Council trees below the network lines across the Auckland region.
The role is responsible for 4 crews and works closely with the Contracts Manager and Operations Managers to ensure the scheduled work is completed as required on time and to quality standards.
The person we seek will be a strong leader who demonstrates a calm and well-organized management style.
The person we seek will be a natural problem solver who has full responsibility for planning and completion of work that achieves Council KPIs while maintaining predetermined network line clearances.
You will also demonstrate the ability to build strong client, crew and management team rapport.

Key Tasks Include
-    Planning and scheduling of crew operations

-    Audit crew and work sites to ensure Treescape and contractual Health and Safety compliance

Skills and Experience Required
-    Ideally you will have a background in Council contract management and have worked closely with Utility or local government agencies.

The Role
An arborist position is available which requires the successful applicant to respond to Councils/clients requests for service within a geographical area such as Central Auckland, East Auckland or South Auckland. You will be required to discuss customers’ requirements and decide the best course of action within the scope of the contract and well as provide arboricultural knowledge, liaise with clients and also undertake work where necessary.
The successful applicant will understand and ensure compliance with contractual and Local Authority regulations relating to arboricultural.

Previous Council contract experience would be an advantage. 
You will have access to a vehicle with tools necessary to complete jobs

Essential skills required:
-    Ideally Level 4 Arboriculture qualification, completed or in progress 
-    A minimum 2 years’ experience in arboriculture

-    Ability to work remotely and in sole charge

The role requires active and continuous monitoring of contract performance with respect to municipal activities and will liaise closely with the Operations Manager to ensure outstanding service is delivered.
The people we seek will be energetic and professionally presented with a sound background in managing contracts, compliance, and service level agreements for SOE or Local Government organisations. 
The successful candidate will have solid computer skills and be capable of efficiently managing a key client relationship, able to explain complex information in a clear and concise manner in order to establish credibility and build rapport with clients.

ARBORICULTURAL APPRENTICE

Cornwall Park

A vacancy exists for a highly motivated individual to be part of our wider maintenance team at Cornwall Park in Auckland.  This full-time position requires someone who is passionate about parks and trees and maintaining them to a high standard at all times.   Rostered weekend work is also necessary.
The role will involve training and hands on experience in felling, safe climbing, aerial rescue, formative pruning, use of elevated platforms, brush chippers, tractors and mowers, pests and diseases, planting and transplanting, mulching and fertilizing, nursery techniques and plant production.
A reasonable level of fitness is required and some industry experience would be advantageous.  Training will be provided through the Primary Industry Training Organisation.  This is an entry-level role ideally suited for a person keen to learn arboriculture from a hands-on perspective.
Current Driver’s License essential. Growsafe and First Aid certificate would be beneficial.
