Hamilton is known for its natural environment, with street and park trees an important feature of the city scape. Our City Parks team is responsible for the physical work on those trees, and is in the market for an Arborist to join our crew.
The role includes the maintenance of established trees across the city, one-off tree removals, routine pruning, and the planting of new specimens.
We're after a committed and enthusiastic parks or tree work professional with a recognised arboriculture qualification or relevant experience, and competence with the tools of the arboriculture trade.
Our unit is a tight-knit team and we need someone who works well alongside other parks professionals. You need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with your colleagues, and collaborate with your peers to meet deadlines and complete work schedules.
If you are able to work in a team environment with high expectations of beh avior and have experience in urban tree work this is the role for you.
The recruiting range for this role starts at $53,500 per annum, and could be negotiated depending on the candidates skill and experience.

The Royal Auckland and Grange Golf Club - Golf Course Horticulturist / Arborist 
The Royal Auckland and Grange Golf Club is one of the most exclusive private member golf clubs in New Zealand.   We are currently looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Horticulturist / Arborist to join our golf course Agronomy dept as we embark on a very exciting journey of redevelopment with the Nicklaus Design Team.   Over the next four years’ our famous courses will be transformed into a world class 27 hole facility which will also include a brand new agronomy department and workshop.  In addition to this, a world class landscape architect company from the US has been commissioned to work in collaboration with the Nicklaus design to develop a landscape masterplan.  To this point, we are looking for an experienced Horticulturist / Arborist.
Established in 1894, the Club has a proud and long history and is excited about our upcoming construction phase.  We are looking for a positive individual who sets very high standards, is a team player, embraces change and will mentor our Junior gardener.  
The successful candidate will poses a passion and understanding of turf maintenance equipment and the following attributes:
·Minimum Level 4 Horticulture or Arboriculture Qualification with excellent skills and attention to detail
·Minimum 3 years landscape / horticulture / arboriculture experience in a supervisory capacity 
·Chainsaw qualifications.  Tree climbing qualifications is of benefit but not essential  
·Golf course experience would be of benefit but not essential  
·Good understanding of tree species, tree management (arboriculture)
·Enjoys working outside, being part of a large team, with a positive attitude!

There’ll be tree removal and planting from time to time, along with the routine pruning of our established trees. Trees play a big part in the presentation of the city, so we need someone who’s keen to keep Palmy looking good!
