About the Job


Nelmac Kūmānū’s aboriculture teams are based in sunny Nelson and beautiful Blenheim and have positions for Arborists of all skill levels.


You will get to do a great mixture of street trees, reserve trees, heritage trees and private work. The roles offer huge variety and whether it be big, medium, or small trees, we endeavour to keep you challenged enough to keep the adrenaline flowing.


These are very tight teams, who enjoy the work they do, are supportive and welcoming to new team members.


Ongoing training is provided, and the manager makes it his business to provide on job targeted training at every opportunity to give you the best chance to grow your skills and career.


Nelmac is a very safety conscious company who understand the risks involved working in this field and provide you with modern plant, equipment and quality PPE including protos helmets with comms, and climbing kits to help keep you safe.


Market rates paid relevant to qualifications and experience.

For a Senior Arborist role, you will take on responsibility for leading jobs, while mentoring our less experienced Arborists. We will provide you with up-to-date climbing gear and a great working environment.


Ideally you’ll have:


  • A National Certificate in Horticulture (Arboriculture) Level 4, working on level 4, or an equivalent standard

  • Class 2 driver’s licence however you will be put through this licence at Nelmac’s expense.

  • Experience in all aspects of professional arboriculture contracting including lines work (close approach an advantage)

  • Competence in rope and harness climbing, EWP and SRT operation experience preferred

  • A commitment to safe, efficient, quality work

  • A general mechanical aptitude
