About the Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Entry Level Project Arborist to join our growing team in Auckland. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in arboriculture who is ready to take the next step into project-based consulting work.

As a Project Arborist, your day-to-day will involve working on a variety of urban infrastructure and development projects. You’ll be responsible for assessing tree health and structure, identifying potential conflicts between trees and proposed works, and helping to design solutions that protect and retain trees wherever possible. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, landscape architects, and contractors to ensure tree protection requirements are understood and integrated into construction processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake site inspections and tree assessments across Auckland.

• Support the development of Tree Protection and Management Plans.

• Identify potential tree conflicts in infrastructure or development designs.

• Provide input on tree retention, pruning, or removals.

• Write arboricultural reports to meet specific project or regulatory requirements.

• Monitor works near trees to ensure compliance with protection measures.

• Engage with council representatives, clients, and contractors on project requirements.

What You’ll Need

• A Level 4 NZQA qualification in Arboriculture (or higher).

• A full New Zealand driver’s licence.

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.

• A commitment to ongoing professional development.

• Basic knowledge of tree health, structure, and urban growing environments.

Desirable (but not essential)

• Familiarity with AS4970:2009 Tree Protection on Development Sites.

• Experience reading or interpreting civil or landscape plans.

• Prior site monitoring or consulting experience (even in a trainee capacity).

Why Join Us?

At Arb-Eco, we’re passionate about trees, urban spaces, and practical design. You’ll join a knowledgeable and friendly team that values smart problem-solving, ongoing learning, and work-life balance. Whether you're stepping out of study or transitioning from a field-based role, we’ll support your development every step of the way.

• Salary: Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

• Work vehicle supplied.

• Home office essentials supplied.

• Location: Auckland-based, with site visits throughout the region.

• Application: Express interest and apply via Arbeco.co.nz
