We’re looking for passionate and likeminded arborists to join our team.


From our depot in Woolston, The Tree People undertakes a wide variety of arboriculture  work for residential and commercial clients throughout Christchurch and the South Island. A family friendly and orientated business, you will be well looked after and have the  opportunity to work on some beautiful properties and to care for some amazing trees. At a minimum, ideally you will have:


  • National Certificate in Arboriculture (Level 3) completed, working within or towards  Level 4 

  • Full Class 1 Driver’s License

  • At times we’ll need you to be prepared to work, and sometimes stay out of town


Preferably you'll have, but not essential as we'll help get you there...


  • Vegetation powerline clearance experience 

  • Competent EWP operator 

  • Traffic Controller, or STMS or equivalent 

  • Class 2 

  • Experience in transplanting, SRT, rigging, dismantling, felling, crane work, machine assisted felling

  • Ability to use common sense, make decisions, problem solve, know when you’re out of  your depth and will speak up 

  • A great work ethic, a self-starter who leads by example and takes pride in producing  high quality work 

  • A willingness to learn, teach others and be a good team member who carries their  weight on site 

  • Professionalism in your approach, doing it safely and looking out for others 

  • Strong communication skills 

  • Ability to maintain your equipment in good working order 

  • Experience in following job specifications, and the confidence to ask questions and raise  concerns 

  • The desire to contribute to the good of all and happily perform ground-based tasks, traffic management, or pedestrian control duties when needed 

  • A personality that radiates passion for the industry, each other, the work and the clients
