Ash & Oak Arborists is a locally owned and operated arboricultural company based in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, working across Whakatāne, Ōhope, Edgecumbe and the wider region. We take on commercial, rural and residential work, and we pride ourselves on high quality tree work, working to high standards and retaining trees and vegetation where possible.

We hold Master Arborist Accreditation, are ISA Certified and SHE Pre Qual registered, are members of NZ Arb, and are an Immigration New Zealand Accredited Employer.

Our yard is rural and properly equipped — two forestry tractors, a digger, tracked, trailed and PTO chippers, trucks, loaders, bobcats and a full range of specialist arborist gear, all well maintained.

The role

Climbing Arborist positions available. You will be working as part of an experienced crew on varied work, from technical removals in tight residential sites through to rural vegetation and work. Safety and workmanship come first.

You will be skilled in

• Climbing and rigging operations

• Technical tree removals and sectional dismantling

• Pruning to industry standard, including large pruning projects

• Recognising tree defects, hazards and general tree health

• Vegetation and shelterbelt management

• Safe operation of chainsaws, chippers and site machinery

• Working to the job plan and briefing as part of a crew

You will need

• Level 3 or Level 4 Arboriculture qualification, or equivalent proven experience

• Class 1 driver licence

• A genuine commitment to safety and to doing the job properly

These would also be advantageous

• Class 2 or HT licence

• First aid certificate

• WTR endorsements

• Crane, EWP or hiab-assisted experience

What we offer

• Competitive salary that is bench marked and reviewed regularly depending on experience and qualifications

• A minimum of 40 guaranteed hours per week. Start time 6.45am, finish times vary by job

• Time and a half for emergency callout work

• Paid lunch breaks

• Gear allowance and travel allowance

• Regular training days on paid time. We have funded Level 4 qualifications for our own team and completed them on work time

• A four day week can be considered where the work schedule allows

• Food and drinks provided on Friday afternoons

• Assistance with accommodation for the right person relocating to the area
