We’re looking for a Utility Arborist to join our supportive, future‑focused team and help maintain a safe and reliable electricity network.
About the role
As a Utility Arborist, you’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for maintaining vegetation around power lines and network assets. You’ll carry out safe trimming and felling, support fault response work and deliver vegetation services for both the network and private customers.
This is a physically active, outdoor role that offers variety, challenge, and the chance to use and grow your arboriculture expertise. You’ll work with modern equipment, a supportive team, and a company committed to safety and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate
Relevant arboriculture qualification (Level 4 Certificate in Arboriculture or equivalent)
Utility Arborist qualification (preferred but not essential - must be willing to work towards)
1+ years’ experience in arboriculture, ideally including EWP and climbing experience
Full Class 2 Driver Licence (Class 1 minimum required)
Good understanding of vegetation maintenance requirements around overhead distribution systems
Physically fit and happy working outdoors
Strong communication skills with a focus on safety and quality
Comfortable using mobile technology and software (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Network Waitaki Contracting team provide electrical construction and maintenance services across New Zealand. We have a team of approximately 60 people across management and field staff within our contracting team.
