The role of an Arborist


As a qualified arborist, you will ensure the safety and reliability of our electrical distribution network by performing and coordinating all aspects of tree work. Your primary focus will be advanced tree maintenance, powerline management, and private customer work.

You’ll work alongside our experienced team, leading and participating in tree maintenance activities throughout our service area. Your role will also involve proactive vegetation management to minimise potential hazards and disruptions to our electrical service. In addition to routine maintenance, you will assist with emergency response efforts, including tree-related outages and storm damage.

About you


You are a qualified arborist with a passion for maintaining and managing trees to ensure the safety and reliability of our electrical distribution network. You possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Level 3 Arboriculture Qualification (Level 4 desirable, or working towards)

  • NZES Level 3 Utility Arboriculture Qualification (or eligible to enrol)

  • HT licence, at least class 2

  • Familiar with close approach requirements and proven industry experience

  • Physically fit and reliable, ready to tackle the physical demands of the role

  • Knowledgeable in Industry Codes of Practice, Policies, Standards, Work Procedures, and Legislative Requirements

Your strong communication skills, positive attitude, and commitment to high standards of performance make you an excellent fit for our team. You are open to new ideas, enjoy continual improvement and learning, and take pride in your work and appearance.
